All aspects of diabetes self-management are covered in a group setting, including blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, medication and physical activity. There are four classes over a six-month period. A signed doctor's order is required.

After you have attended all four initial sessions of diabetes-self management training (DSMT), Medicare will pay for one annual refresher course each year.
